Power Platform Dev Weekly #260
Welcome to the Power Platform Developers Weekly!
I’m not sure whether it’s just my algorithm on LinkedIn but I feel like I’m seeing MCP here, there and everywhere. We even spoke about Microsoft first talking about it back in March - so it’s definitely here to stay!
In other big developer news - the git integration is now GA! That’s a very exciting milestone to hit.
Outside of this, it’s another pretty quiet week this week for content.

🥇 Cover Story
Git Integration is Generally Available
by Casey Burke & Marcel Ferreira
We don’t often put the Microsoft articles as the headline articles but as a developer newsletter, when a feature such as native git integration goes into general availability, it seems an easy decision!
There isn’t a huge amount of community content out there on this feature quite yet, but the official Microsoft documentation is pretty solid and in depth so if you do have any spare time in the not too distant future, this is definitely worth delving into.
💎 Model Driven Apps & Dataverse
Handling Transaction Errors in Dataverse Plug-ins
by Kailash Ramachandran
Post 3 in a series by Kailish, who took our headline post last week and this is a great continuation and I love reading the deep diving developer focussed blog posts.
Whilst the emojis in the blog post may be an indicator that there is some quite heavy AI usage in the content, that doesn’t take it away from being a valuable resource for debugging Dataverse issues.
Use Security Roles to manage access to views (preview)
by Nishant Rana
When a blog post requires you to open XrmToolBox to make an OrgDBSettings change, you know it’s going to be interesting!
Nishant talks about a preview feature regarding an advanced way of handling access to views - it feels like something we should have had for years but here it now is in all of it’s (preview) glory.
😎 Power Automate
How To Setup A Power Platform Environment Variable Secret
by Matthew Devaney
Difficult to find quite which category this should go into as Matthew writes such great, in depth articles so we settled on Power Automate!
Environment Variable secrets combine environment variables with Azure Key Vault and have some great use cases - which Matthew delves into here!
Set ‘Regarding’ to any (eligible) table in single update action in Power Automate
by Amey Holden
The regarding field can be a pain and to understand how to use it in different areas, including Power Automate UI can be very counter intuitive. Amey breaks down how she implemented it within Power Automate in great detail.
Use Power Automate Child Flows To Run Actions As A Service Account
by Chris Harper
No-one likes sorting permissions do they? Chris simplifies certain processes with Child Flows. Delegating of processes to child flows isn’t a process everyone does - but it really does have benefits at different times!
