Power Platform Dev Weekly #284
Welcome to the Power Platform Developers Weekly!
Happy New Year from everyone at Power Platform Dev Weekly - 2025 was a fantastic year and this little newsletter has continued to grow and is literally read by thousands of you each and every (other) week and for that, we thank you! Here’s to 2026 and making it better than 2025!
There aren’t a huge amount of news and articles this newsletter but we thought we’d at least check in and motivate you for the coming year!
Microsoft feature releases and announcements
Unsurprisingly, no announcements coming out of the mother ship since our last newsletter!
We need to follow more content creators. If you know anyone who writes blogs or creates videos, please fill out the form on their behalf provided on this website so we can start tracking them.
We hope you enjoy the content of this week.

🥇 Cover Story
Can you build an XrmToolBox tool with Zero experience -Vibe coding with GitHub Copilot
by Matt Collins-Jones
Start as we mean to go on right? Headline article is AI - but a fun take on AI and giving back to the community by MCJ. Vibe coding is bridging the skill gap and when used correctly, like in MCJ’s case, we all benefit in multiple ways - both by his knowledge and findings in building the app but also by using the XrmToolBox tool that he came up with!
💎 Model Driven Apps & Dataverse
by Mark Carrington
Whilst some of us logged off over Christmas and literally didn’t touch a keyboard, other people decided to be a little more generous with their time, none more so than Mark Carrington who shipped us a Xmas Eve SQL 4 CDS update!
Automatically Refresh Forms After Status Changes in Model Driven Apps
by Riccardo Gregori
Feel like we’ve gone back in time with this post and I love it! Javascript in a model driven app - feels very 2020 but this is a perfect example of a post that all Power Platform Devs should read! Thanks Riccardo.
🤖 Copilot
Top 10 Copilot Studio Articles Of 2025
by Matthew Devaney
A blog post sharing someone’s blog post about their top 10 blogs of the year? Yep. But we are developers and like recursion so there we go. Matthew puts so much work into his blog, it’s always fun to see what his most enjoyable posts were.
😎 Power Automate
3 approaches to reshape data in Power Automate Efficiently
by Pieter Veenstra
Pieter with the first of two articles dominating the Power Automate section - but for a “low code” platform, shaping data in Power Automate can be really difficult so Pieters knowledge here is always invaluable.
Your flow has a new trigger URL in Power Automate
by Pieter Veenstra
Pieter for a second time - this one is here because this email has been annoying me for weeks so good to get Pieters advice on how to handle it because it can be a little problematic at times!
👍 Everything else in Power Platform
Power Pages: Bring your own code! (Tutorial)
by Nick Doelman
Any article that contains the word “tutorial” in it’s title AND has an accompanying video immediately grabs my attention - a huge amount of time and effort put in here by Nick and one I found very interesting as he’s so open with his prompts and the responses they gave him. One of my early front runners for “most complete blog post of the year”.

Love the recursion joke with Matthew's top 10 blog roundup. The vibe coding article is timely since we're all figuring out where AI assistance helps versus hinders when building actual production tools. Pieter's data shaping content is always solid, I've personally run into those same flow trigger URL notifications and it's been annoying trying to figure out the best aproach. Appreciate the consistent curation here.
